Commander Responsibility. The commander has the responsibility of ensuring communication
security. He must rely solely on several means of communication, not one. Flexibility, reliability,
security, and speed will dictate which means to use. Communication operators must ensure that
communication equipment is protected from abuse, damage, or capture. Additional communication
security guidelines are as follows.
Transmit only when necessary
Use low transmitting power when possible
Be alert to sudden changes in radio signals
Keep message short
Maintain communication silence as much as possible
Use only authorized codes and ciphers
Avoid identifying yourself or location
Demand authentication

Unusual Operating Conditions. In addition to communication security, FP will operate in a in
a variety of tactical environments and diverse weather conditions.
