e. Supplemental and Enhancement Items for T Rations. Ensure that cooks
supplement the T Ration with bread and milk to make the meal nutritionally
complete. You do not require enhancements for this purpose.
f. Warming and Cooling Beverages.
In your plan, include warming and
cooling beverages in addition to the daily authorized beverage allowances.
Normally, you request these allowances through the food advisor.
These
items are automatic issues and must be integral parts of your deployment
plan.
g. Other Planning Requirements.
You
must
include
the
following
additional factors in operations planning:
o
Water.
o
Fuel.
o
Ice.
o
Waste disposal.
o
Residuals (leftover usable food items).
The following two areas require special attention:
(1) Location.
fuel, trash, and Class I supply points require attention. Plan to collocate
fuel, water, and ice near the Class I supply point to expedite resupply of
supported units.
(2) Disposal. In overseas deployments, it is crucial that you know
the disposition instructions that pertain to leftover usable food items.
You must identify residuals that you can or cannot turn in to the supply
point. You must establish specific disposition instructions. Ensure that
all personnel know how to dispose of trash and garbage correctly.
2.
Consolidated Area Feeding.
According to Army field feeding doctrine, feeder units provide support to
units that are in or that pass through their areas.
Some units, with no
authorized food service personnel, are attached to a feeder unit for
subsistence support.
These supporting units prepare and ship meals to
remote sites when it is necessary.
3.
Meal Delivery.
Food
service
personnel
may
have
to
deliver
meals
to
soldiers.
Consider
this
in
your
predeployment
plan.
Cooks
prepare
meals
and
package
them
in
insulated
food
containers
at
a
field
kitchen site.
Then, they take the hot food to a staging site.
Unit representatives inspect the food for proper quantities and account
for
all
the
food
items,
including
MREs,
food
containers,
