is in the closed position. If the generator set fuel tank is being used,
the START-RUN-STOP switch should be placed in the RUN position and the
BATTLE SHORT switch in the ON position.
The fuel level gauge should be
checked for sufficient fuel indication. The START-RUN-STOP switch should be
left in the RUN position and the BATTLE SHORT switch in the ON position for
a sufficient length of time to ensure that the day tank assembly contains
enough fuel for starting. The BATTLE SHORT switch should then be turned to
the OFF position. The soldier should depress the fault location indicator
TEST OR RESET switch and check that all fault location indicator lights
illuminate. Finally, the soldier should pull the manual speed control all
the way out, and then push it approximately halfway back in.
b. Never allow soldiers to attempt to start the generator set if it is
not properly grounded.
Failure to observe this warning may result in
serious injury or death by electrocution.
Do not allow soldiers to crank
the engine in excess of 15 seconds. Allow the starter assembly to cool at
least 15 seconds between crankings.
Your soldiers are now ready to start the generator.

prior to repeating the starting procedure.
Place the VOLTS/AMPS transfer

and correct the indicated fault before proceeding with operations.
