It is very important that preventive maintenance checks and services (PMCS) on water equipment are
done in accordance with the relevant technical manuals for each piece of equipment.
As a supervisor you need to ensure that personnel perform before-, during-, and after-operations
maintenance. You will do this by monitoring the activity, using DA Form 2404 (Figure 4-3). To monitor the
maintenance, you need to ensure that the form is being filled out properly by each team chief. You will know
when this is done correctly when all deficiencies have been annotated. In addition, check that operator
deficiencies have been corrected.
Water Quality Analysis Unit. The WQAU gives the water treatment operator the ability to detect five
water quality parameters: temperature, pH, total dissolved solids, turbidity, and free available chlorine.
DA Form 2404. As a senior NCO, you need to ensure that your supervisors review completed DA Form
2404 (Figure 4-3) noting all corrections, deficiencies, and shortcomings recorded by soldiers. They will then
forward a summary of deficiencies and actions taken to you.
