Example Of Determining Fuel Requirements For 3,000-GPH ROWPU. There are two ways
to estimate fuel requirements--with historical on-site records and logs or by equipment data specifications.
Using historical data, you would rely on the daily water reports; for example, over the past two days your
daily fuel consumption for ROWPU #2 was 20 gallons for 10 hours of operation, or 2 gallons average per one
hour. Divide the amount of fuel on hand (15 gallons) by the average consumption per hour (2 gallons). The
result is 7.5 hours of operation, which is how long you can operate on 15 gallons of fuel for this particular
ROWPU. If you had to add 40 hours of operation to this ROWPU, you know you will need (2 gal x 40 hr = 80
gallons of fuel. It is by monitoring such consumption fuel factors through the records that you will know when
refueling requests are required.
In situations where historical data for fuel are not available, you must calculate consumption of fuel by
using the specifications for the equipment in use (Table 1-4).

Example of Determining Supply Requirements for 3,000-GPH ROWPU. There are two
ways to determine other supply requirements: one is historical, and the other is using the 3,000-GPH
ROWPU Consumables Table (Table 1-5).
Historical data are always preferred provided accurate records were kept. The review of past production
logs and the continuous operation of the equipment that those logs represent are the most accurate method.
This is true for other supplies as well as for fuel.
In the case, however, where you do not have such a record, you will need the 3,000-GPH ROWPU
Consumables Table (Table 1-5) to determine the requirements other than fuel supply for five days operation
of a ROWPU.
PART E - MANAGING COMMAND INSPECTION PROGRAM OF WATER
DISTRIBUTION AND ISSUE POINTS
Establish an inspection program that requires subordinate elements to conduct inspections on a regular
basis. The program should be designed to identify problems with all aspects of storage and distribution
operations..
Receiving From Water Section NCOIC/Surgeon General Representative Complete DA
Form 5456-R. (Refer to Figures 1-5 and 1-6.) Ensure reports are received on time. Notify units that do
not meet the suspense for inspections.
