an asterisk. For example, to retrieve all the records that begin with T or "Table", you would type
"T" or "Table" followed by an asterisk (T*or Table*).
b. Another way to locate and retrieve equipment records is by national stock number
(NSN). Again, this can be accomplished several different ways. One is by typing the entire 13-
digit number bringing up that record only. Another is by typing in the Federal Supply Code
(FSC) followed by an asterisk. This will bring up all records (a group) which have the same first
four numbers of the NSN. Finally, you can type in an asterisk followed by the last 7 digits of the
NSN or the 7 TIIN (TISA item identification number TINN).
c. Finally, you can locate and retrieve records by serial number. This can be accomplished
in two different ways. One, by typing in the entire serial number brings up that one equipment
record only. Secondly, by typing in the first letter or number of the serial number followed by an
asterisk. This will bring up all records that begin with the same letter or number.
7. Deleting Records. When equipment is turned in and no longer in your dining facility, you
must delete (remove) that piece of equipment's records from your system.
8. Summary. Following correct procedures is a must if you are in need of equipment to
produce quality food. The responsibility begins with you. You must not only ensure your soldiers
are using and maintaining equipment properly, but also that you are reporting and documenting
equipment for service.
