INTRODUCTION
The petroleum laboratory contains several equipment that require

careful installation and adjustments. The laboratory supervisor
must be able to ensure this equipment is properly installed and
maintained. Although this lesson is about the installation and
maintenance of equipment, it is important to understand that a
calibration program is essential to the maintenance of the above
mentioned equipment as well as several others.
It is very
important that special safety measures associated with the
handling of mercury be strictly observed. Care must be taken to
prevent the spill of mercury because this substance is extremely
poisonous and unstable. Make sure that the MSDS on mercury is
read as well as the warning associated with it.
