b. Stress the importance of personal hygiene and sanitation. The Public Health Service has
reported that about 40 percent of communicable diseases are associated with improper handling
of food or poor personal habits of food service personnel. Food service personnel must be
continually instructed to maintain high standards of sanitation. All food service personnel must
realize their responsibilities for the health and well being of the people for whom they prepare
food.
13. Summary. The importance of continuous training cannot be emphasized enough. Training
in food service is in itself a continuous learning process. You must be aware of all training and
developmental requirements in order to give your soldiers the proper training and technical skills
needed to advance to their next grade level. You, as a trainer must strive to become a more
effective teacher. Always put yourself in the trainees' place; it will help in evaluating your
teaching effectiveness. Remember, good leadership, effective communication, and sound
instructional methods help keep your trainees' motivated and willing to learn.
