engine and generator instruments for normal readings.
Perform during-
operation PMCS. Monitor gauges and indicator lights. Monitor fluid lines
and levels.
Log all actions/deficiencies on DA Form 2404.
Give form to
supervisor at the end of each shift.
f. Rotate the VOLTS/AMPS transfer switch to each phase position while
observing the AC AMMETER. If more than the rated load is indicated in any
phase, replace generator set. Check the kilowatt meter indication. If the
indication is more than 100 percent rated load, replace generator set. The
oil pressure gauge located on the engine should indicate 20 psi minimum.
Check running time meter periodically in order to perform PMCS at proper
intervals.
Battery indicator should indicate positive while battery is
charging and near zero when battery is fully charged. AC voltmeter should
lines and connections for leaks.
3. To shut down the generator, place the CIRCUIT BREAKER switch in the OPEN
position.
To stop the generator, place the START-RUN-STOP switch in the
STOP position.
Perform after-operation maintenance.
If the generator is
not going to be operated for some time, or if movement will occur prior to
start-up, disconnect the negative cable from the battery.
4. Inspect the generator for after-operation PMCS and log actions taken and
any deficiencies found on DA Form 2404. Give the completed forms to your
supervisor at the end of each shift. Check fluid levels, refuel, and add
oil as necessary, and annotate DA Form 2404.
5. Maintain a separate file of all DA Forms 2404 given to you by generator
operators. Use this file to supervise your generator preventive maintenance
program. Record on DA Form 2404 expendable supplies used, PMCS notations,
and actions taken to correct deficiencies and shortcomings. Provide to your
immediate supervisor the completed forms at the end of each shift.
6. Schedule shop maintenance when required, as indicated from DA Forms
2404. Daily check on the status of generator equipment in the DS/GS shop.
Inform supervisor of equipment status daily.
7. Request through the S4 sufficient expendable supplies to maintain
operational readiness and meet mission requirements.
Annotate on DA Form
2404 all expendable supplies consumed daily. Forward copy of DA Form 2404
to water section NCOIC daily.
