the first start up.
With the ROWPU operating, have the crew perform the
following:
a. Slowly close the product block valve while watching the product
water pressure gage. The ROWPU should shutdown at 35-45 psig.
b. The next step applies only when operating in salt water.
Proceed
with caution during this test.
Slowly close the system pressure control
valve while watching the RO pressure gage. The unit should shutdown at 930-
960 psig. Watch the product water flowmeter. If the product flow starts to
exceed 75 GPM, stop the test and open the pressure control valve. The ROWPU
is producing too much product water to finish testing of the high pressure
switch. Bypass the test until the next scheduled PMCS.
c. Slowly close the cartridge filter block valve while watching the red
needle on the cartridge filter inlet/outlet pressure gage. The booster pump
and high pressure pump should shutdown at 4-8 psig.
d. Slowly close the feed control valve while watching the media filter
differential gage. The media filter plugged light and alarm should come on
when the difference between the two needles is 22-28 psid.
e. Slowly close the cartridge block valve while watching the cartridge
differential pressure gage valve.
The cartridge filter plugged light and
alarm should come on when the difference between the two needles is 13-18
psid.
22. Routine operational services will have to be performed as indicated by
the number of operating hours, pressure differentials, or by the warning
horn or yellow indicator lights.
Ensure that your soldiers perform the
following routine crew operational services as needed to maintain operation
throughout the mission:
a. Routine
maintenance
after
20
hours
of
operations
and
during-
operation PMCS.
b. Backwashing the multimedia filter under the following conditions or
limits:
o
At least once each day.
o
Every six hours on rivers and lakes with a lot of organic matter,
where the turbidity is over 15 NTU, and the water temperature is
over 70 degrees F.
