PART A - SETUP OF THE 3,000-GPH ROWPU
1.
Based on the TLO condition statement in this lesson, you fully
understand what your mission is and brief this to your two team members.
Then you must consider a few areas that must be checked before you deploy.
You check your equipment ensuring that it is ready to deploy.
All
components and accessories are loaded according to your sections loading
plan, and you have a 30-day supply of expendable operating supplies loaded.
The personal equipment of your crew is packed and loaded according to the
unit SOP. You talk with your supervisor and receive all of the details on
the support requirements that your water point will need to sustain
operations.
Find out what environmental discharge restrictions are in
affect for the AO.
Ensure that the driver has a strip map.
Review the
route selection with your crew covering the following:
o
Start, check, and release points.
o
Areas for resting, messing, and refueling.
o
Any areas along the route where passage could be confusing.
2.
Everything in the planning stage and deployment stage has gone
smoothly.
You left on time and ensured that the driver stopped at the
prescribed rest stops. The latest G2/S2 reports show no known NBC activity
in the area.
You have arrived at the site and the water source is a
moderately flowing river. The crew is anxious to position the equipment and
setup for operation.
Before positioning the trailer and unloading the
equipment have your soldiers check to ensure that the quality of water at
the source has not changed from the reconnaissance results and is free of
NBC agents. You must take the appropriate action if the quality of water is
untreatable or has the presence of NBC contamination, then report your
findings to higher HQ and move to your alternate site. If no NBC agents are
present and the other test results are similar to the results reported on
the DA Form 1712-R, you are clear to proceed with setup.
Look at the
proposed site layout on the reconnaissance form and determine where you will
be positioning your equipment. Give consideration to the following factors:
a. Position the trailer so that the water source is to the right side
of the trailer. The ROWPU worksite must have good drainage, firm ground, a
level surface, and be large enough to handle the components of the raw water
and distribution systems.
b. The ROWPU must be within 200 feet of the raw water pump position and
within the raw water pumps capability to provide sufficient flow.
