c. The bivouac area must be large enough for water point personnel and
security forces. The bivouac area must be at least 100 feet downstream or
downgradient from water purification operations.
d. The latrine should be located at least 100 meters downstream or
downgradient from the water purification operations.

Before the equipment is positioned, review the safety cautions and
warnings for the equipment with your crew.
Remember that death or severe
injury may result if soldiers do not observe precautions listed in the TM.
Emphasize
the
potential
for
environmental
damage
and
the
crews
responsibility for environmental damage control.
If the water source
required a permit to operate from, review the permit with the crew. Ensure
your operation is within the constraints of the permit throughout the
mission.
a. Ground guide the trailer into the proper position and remember that
the trailer cannot have more than a 2 degree side-to-side grade and a 5
degree grade lengthwise. Have the crew perform the following:
b. Place wheel chocks under the wheels.
Place load boards under the
landing gear. Lower the landing gear and unhook the trailer.
c. Adjust the landing gear so that the front of the trailer is one-half
of a bubble lower than the back of the trailer but no more than a 5 degree
maximum grade.

Before you start unloading the equipment, brief your crew on their
responsibilities, the positioning of the raw water intake system, and the
distribution system. A well-trained crew will unload and deploy the systems
instinctively.
An inexperienced crew will need a more detailed briefing
with more guidance and direction.
The equipment is unloaded from the
trailer and positioned for assembly or storage.
Properly store hazardous
chemicals and POLs a safe distance from production operations. Any leaks or
spills should be cleaned up, wastes properly stored in marked containers and
disposed. Ensure that vehicle leaks and spills are identified, controlled,
and cleaned up immediately.
Used oils, other waste fluids, and any
contaminated soil must be stored in marked containers and properly disposed.
5.
The crew is now ready to setup the raw water intake system. The site
for the raw water pump must not be more than 15 vertical feet above the
water source and 30 vertical fee: below the level
