Supervising General Safety. As supervisor, you must ensure that personnel do not operate the ROWPU until the ground
terminal stud on the generator set is connected to a suitable ground (Fig.
1-2). Three ground rod sections should be
driven
at least 8 feet into the ground. The reason for this is that high voltage is produced when the generator set is operated. Death
or severe burns may result if personnel fail to observe caution in grounding the equipment. Other general precautions include
having fire extinguishers on site (Fig. 1-3) and ready at hand and having a fire point established not far from the ROWPU
unit. When personnel are on or about the ROWPU, you must ensure that trailer legs are down, float pads are in place, and
wheels are blocked. This prevents the vehicle from moving and crushing someone. To protect personnel from excessive
noise levels, you need to see that hearing protection is worn when equipment is in use.
